The North Beach Malt House consists of 88 units in 4 buildings; 3 of the buildings are new, but one offers a rich and wonderful history.

This historic landmark building, located at 445 Francisco Street in San Francisco, served as a malting factory and brewery for 40 years. It was nearly destroyed in the 1906 earthquake.

The homes at the North Beach Malt House surround a stunning urban oasis – a courtyard measuring 150’ x 60’ (aprx). Landscape architect Cliff Lowe used original malting equipment, including 2 of the original 6 grain silos. There are birch trees, magnolias and Japanese boxwood shrubs, all surrounding a basalt lava stone fountain.

The North Beach Malt House won two awards: 2004 Residential Architect Design Awards’ Award of Merit, Multifamily Housing and the 2003 Gold Nugget Awards’ Award of Merit, Best Attached Project.
